How It Works
This is not a GPS device. Instead, it uses Bluetooth signals and taps into the Android network to update the location of your tag. If it’s out of Bluetooth range from your phone, other Android phones nearby can still help locate it — no SIM or subscription required.
Troubleshooting Tips - Get it Working First Time!
1. Location Permissions or Services Disabled
Either your device or the Google Find My Device app may not have the required permissions.
Solution:
- On your phone, go to:
- Settings > Location > App Permissions > Find My Device → set to Allow all the time
- Settings > Security > Find My Device → ensure it’s turned on
- Ensure Bluetooth and Location are enabled.
2. Location Data Not Yet Available
- The tag may have been recently set up or hasn't moved to a location where the Find My Device network can update its location.
- Crowd-sourced tracking requires another nearby Android device with location and Bluetooth enabled to detect the tag and report it to Google's servers.
Solution:
- Move the tag to a public or populated area where it's likely to be picked up.
- Ensure the tag has power and is functioning (e.g., not out of battery).
3. Poor Internet Connection
- If your phone or the network hasn’t synced due to weak connectivity, the map or location data might not be available.
Solution:
- Check your internet connection and refresh the app or page.
4. No Location History Yet
- Newly added tags may not appear on the map until they’ve been located at least once by the network.
Solution:
- Wait a few hours or days, especially if it's a passive tag (relies on others' devices to detect it).
5. Device Linked but No Recent Detection
- If the tag hasn't been within range of a device that's part of the Find My Device network recently, it will show as connected but no recent location.
Solution:
- Check again after it has been in proximity to another Android device (with location & Bluetooth enabled).
6. App or System Bug
- Sometimes a UI issue in the Find My Device app or web interface might prevent map display.
Solution:
- Try accessing the Find My Device Web Portal.
- Restart your device or reinstall the app.

Public Holiday delays may periodically occur — if we envisage a notable delay you’ll be contacted by our dispatch team. If you are unable to receive goods at the time of delivery, a redelivery fee of $7.50 is imposed by the delivery party.
INTERNATIONAL
Your order will be dispatched within 2-3 business days, please allow 14 to 28 days for delivery to your address. We use Australia Post and partner international courier networks to deliver your order within regular business hours Monday to Friday. Public Holiday delays may periodically occur — if we envisage a notable delay you’ll be contacted by our dispatch team. If you are unable to receive goods at the time of delivery, a redelivery fee of $14.50 imposed by your local delivering party.
RETURNS & EXCHANGES
Refunds will only be given in the event of defective items. We will not refund in the event of change of mind or incorrect quantity ordered. Once your order has been paid for on our website, we cannot cancel your order. Claims for defective products must be made within 14 days of receipt of your product. For all defect claims, please email hello@friendlymascots.com.au (with your order number, full name, image of the defect and full description) prior to returning your parcel. Friendly Mascots will not accept returned claims without prior authorisation.
